Family Friendly Study Room with Junior Activity Packs
Are you a parent or carer in need of a space to study on campus where you can bring your child(ren)? Come to our Family Friendly Study Room in the University Library this Half Term where you will find a relaxed space with activities for your child(ren) while you work.
Ask at the Enquiries Desk for books/activities to borrow for your child to use in the room, and for our loanable Junior Activity Packs, which include colouring, fidget toys, and puzzle games to help keep your child busy while you study.
While the room does not contain any computers, you can make use of the books and printers in the library and you can either bring your own device or borrow a laptop to use (for more information, see our FAQ - How do I borrow a laptop?).
Booking is required for use of this room. You can do this before coming onto campus, or ask a member of staff to book for you at the Reception/Enquiries Desk when you enter the Library. You will be granted access unless the room is already at capacity. Please book for the maximum number of people using the room so we can keep an eye on capacity, e.g. if booking for 1 parent and 2 children, you will need to book 3 places in total.
By booking this event, you are agreeing to our policy that children will not be left unattended at any time. Staff will monitor the room on a regular basis.

Terms and Conditions
By booking the Family Friendly Study Room, I agree -
- that I am fully responsible for my child(ren) and will not leave them unattended in the library at any time, even for short periods of time to use the toilet or fetch resources
- that I will supervise my child(ren) with the Junior Activity Packs as they may contain small parts and be a choking hazard. I understand these packs are designed with ages 3+ in mind
- that I will supervise my child(ren) around the stairs and lifts, as the stairs have metal edges and the bannisters/barriers/ledges near the stairs and UL110 are quite low and have wide tops and must not be climbed on/leant over, and lifts must not be played with
- that I will leave the room in the state that I found it and will return any toys and activity packs to the Library Desk
We hope you and your family enjoy using the Family Friendly Study Room today, and you manage to get some studying done whilst keeping your children entertained!
