SUMMARY:Learning Essentials 2: Reading and Note Taking (In-Person)
DESCRIPTION:Session Outline\n\nReading academic texts and taking effective 
 notes are essential skills for university success. In this session\, you'll 
 explore practical strategies for finding reliable academic sources\, 
 reading with purpose\, and organising your notes more effectively. You'll 
 also be introduced to digital tools that can help you study smarter and 
 manage information efficiently. By the end of the session\, you'll have a 
 toolkit of techniques you can put into practice straight away.   \n\nWho is 
 this session for?\nThe Learning Essentials series is for students new to 
 higher education (e.g. Foundation Year or Year 1) or returning to study 
 after a break. These beginner-friendly workshops help you build 
 confidence\, develop essential study skills\, and learn about available 
 support before moving on to more specialist guidance from the library’s 
 learning skills teams. You can attend all four sessions or choose the ones 
 that suit you. \n\n\n\nIn-person Session:\nThis session will take place in 
 UL110 in the main University Library. Please arrive on time. If you can no 
 longer attend\, please cancel your booking as soon as possible so your 
 place can be offered to another student. The Library Customer Service team 
 can direct you to the room\, just ask at reception\, or you can use the 
 library building map at Navigate-Me to find your way.\n\nNote: We'd love to 
 see you at this session! However\, places for these in-person sessions are 
 limited\, so you must register through the Library Events page to attend. 
 Unfortunately\, students who have not registered may be unable to join if 
 all seats are taken.
